Carondelet House Wedding | Jessie + Colin

I was asked to photograph Jessie + Colin’s wedding at one of my favorite little venues in Los Angeles, the iconic Carondelet House. This stunning 1920’s Italian villa is nestled in the heart of downtown LA and boasts classic domed archways with hand painted ceilings, exposed brick walls, and gorgeous courtyards with full grown trees protruding in the center of the building. I had documented another wedding there a year prior and I was over the moon to be returning. Jessie and Colin’s story isn’t that of your typical couple, these two lovebirds met back in preschool when they were just 4 years old, parted ways for almost 3 decades, and then reconnected at 31 through a Facebook message and recounted about playground kisses.

Their wedding was held on a Friday evening. Dark clouds and scattered showers were on the horizon in Los Angeles but I was so excited for that perfect milky light. Being that their ceremony and reception were to be held indoors I knew the weather would have no effect on the day’s plans. While Jessie and her bridesmaids were having hair and makeup done I walked around Carondelet capturing all the little details that make the venue so unique. After covering some whiskey toasts with the groomsmen and Colin’s dad, gorgeous geometric lighting fixtures in the ceremony area and stunning florals by Brad Austin I headed upstairs to see Jessie and her entourage.

The first look and ceremony went off without a hitch. All of the guests roared in applause as Colin and Jessie sealed their love with a kiss. High fives were given to Colin as he walked his bride down the aisle to go upstairs and share a private moment together. The reception was something out of a fairytale. The room glowed in warm candlelight that spilled over the table and chairs onto the classic rose centerpieces and crystal stemware.

After some heartfelt speeches and savory food provided by Tres LA Catering everyone then headed downstairs for some sweets and to dance the night away.
