Terranea Resort Elopement

 

The older I get I find myself having a deeper appreciation for new experiences. This one, in particular, was a Terranea Resort elopement located on the sunlit cliffs of the iconic Palos Verdes peninsula. Brian and Steven decided after 25 years of being together that they would finally make it official and tie the knot. This day was particularly special because it coincided with the their 25th anniversary. They even brought a bottle of champagne to celebrate that they’ve been holding onto  since their first year together.

I met the couple in their room at the resort. While I photographed them getting ready for the day they told me about their lives and their relationship together. After they got suited up, we headed down to the coastline for some fun oceanside portraits along the water. We visited my favorite spots and explored some new ones as well. The wonderful thing about a property like Terranea is that there’s no shortage of places to shoot!

As the sun started to set we headed over to the bluff with champagne in-hand. It was there that they were to exchange vows and be wed. Brian and Steven wanted to keep the ceremony private and intimate so they had their two color-coordinated dogs stand in as the wedding party. It was incredibly touching to see a couple together for so long have a love that’s stood the test of time. If that isn’t a beacon of hope for couples everywhere, I don’t know what is. We ended the night with two glasses of bubbly, the most beautiful sunset, and one very happily married couple.
