This year’s weather has been perfect for an outdoor Santa Monica wedding, which is where Shannon + Jonathan said their ‘I Do’s’. I met Shannon the morning of in her suite at The Fairmont Miramar Hotel in Santa Monica just overlooking the coast. Upon arrival Shannon was just about to give out presents to her bridesmaids and family. Some of the gifts included floral manicure kits, cotton bathrobes, and even a Tony Danza shirt. While the girls got ready I was in the bedroom photographing the dress and accessories Shannon was going to wear. As I do with most of my weddings, I wanted to get a shot of the wedding bands on one of the save-the-date’s. Shannon chose a beautiful cardstock with watercolor floral details and gold foiling. Besides for the wedding dress, which was stunning to photograph, I was blown away by the hanger it was on. I normally use my own custom hanger for the dress photos but this particular hanger was something straight out of a fairytale. After makeup and getting into the dress, Shannon made some quick adjustments to her outfit and was then headed outside to see her groom for the first look.
Jonathan was waiting for us across the street just off of the jogging path that over looks the beach. Everyone got into their positions; it was go-time for the first look. Without a whisper of a word, Shannon gave Jonathan two delicate taps on his shoulder. From the moment that Jonathan turned around and saw his bride for the first time his smile went from ear to ear. We took some quick shots on the deck and then we were headed out to Tiato for the ceremony.
Tiato has a great layout and an even better look. The ceremony took place at their intimate outdoor courtyard that boasts both rustic and woodland styling. Encompassing the guests and dining area were separate sections of herb and citrus gardens, succulents, and tea lights. The ceremony was very intimate with both couples reading hand written vows to one another. Once the ceremony concluded we headed outside with the bridal party for photos. We dodged cars for a bit standing in the middle of the street taking some gorgeous dusk shots. I took Shannon and Jonathan around the block for some industrial inspired photos and then it was back to the venue for cocktail hour and family photos. The reception took place outdoors and had a romantic ambiance about it. Everyone’s name card was attached to a potted baby succulent and the tables were tastefully decorated with white roses and babies breath. After speeches and dinner we headed inside for dancing and the cake cutting. Guests continued to dance well into the night while others could be found at the photo booth, outside roasting marshmallows over the fire pit, or at my favorite spot, the bar.
