Topanga Canyon Engagement Session in the Malibu Hills
There’s a different pace to a Topanga Canyon engagement session in the Malibu hills.
Unlike the coastline, where everything feels open and expansive, Topanga creates something quieter. The roads wind. The light filters through uneven terrain. And because of that, the entire experience feels more private and intentional.
For couples looking for something less expected, this part of Los Angeles offers a completely different perspective.

A More Intimate Side of a Malibu Engagement Session
This session unfolded slowly.
To begin with, we moved through the hills without rushing, letting each location reveal itself naturally. Instead of jumping from spot to spot, we stayed present within each environment.
As a result, the images feel grounded rather than staged.
That’s often what defines a Malibu engagement session in Topanga Canyon—it’s not about the quantity of locations, but the depth of each one.

Light, Texture, and Movement in Topanga Canyon
Topanga doesn’t rely on dramatic backdrops.
Instead, it offers subtle shifts—soft hills, dry textures, and light that changes quickly as the sun moves. Because of this, the focus naturally shifts to movement, posture, and connection.
At the same time, the muted tones allow wardrobe and styling to stand out without competing with the landscape.
This balance is what makes the location feel editorial without trying too hard.

Why Couples Choose Topanga Canyon for Engagement Photos
For couples considering a Topanga Canyon engagement session, the appeal is different from more traditional Malibu locations.
First, it offers privacy away from crowded beaches.
Additionally, the terrain creates more variety within a smaller area.
Finally, the setting feels distinctly Southern California without feeling overused.
Because of this, it has become a strong choice for couples who want something understated but elevated.

An Editorial Approach to a Los Angeles Engagement Session
Approaching this as a Los Angeles engagement photographer, the goal is never to over-direct.
Instead, the focus stays on creating space for natural interaction while guiding composition subtly.
For example, small adjustments in positioning or movement can completely change how light interacts with the frame. As a result, the final images feel intentional without feeling forced.
This is where an engagement session moves beyond documentation and becomes something more refined.

Planning a Topanga Canyon Engagement Session
Timing plays a significant role here.
Because the hills drop light quickly, sessions are best scheduled around golden hour to take full advantage of the shifting tones. In addition, choosing wardrobe that complements the environment—rather than contrasts too sharply—helps maintain a cohesive look.
Whether you’re planning a Malibu engagement session or exploring other areas of Los Angeles, the goal remains the same:
To create something that feels natural, elevated, and reflective of you.

Pelican Hill Resort Wedding in Newport Beach | A Luxury Coastal Celebration
Perched above the California coastline, a Pelican Hill Resort wedding in Newport Beach offers a setting defined by architecture, light, and expansive ocean views.
At the same time, the property blends Mediterranean-inspired design with a sense of openness that feels distinctly Southern California. Because of this, it has become one of the most sought-after venues for a Newport Beach wedding.
For couples drawn to refined spaces and intentional experiences, Pelican Hill creates a setting that feels both elevated and effortless.
A Luxury Wedding Experience at Pelican Hill Resort
The day unfolded with a sense of ease that defines the most thoughtful celebrations.
To begin with, the morning started quietly, with natural light filling the suites and setting a calm tone. From there, each part of the day transitioned seamlessly, allowing moments to develop without interruption.
Rather than rushing through the timeline, the structure created space for presence. As a result, every interaction felt genuine and unforced.
This is what defines a Pelican Hill Resort wedding in Newport Beach.

Fashion-Forward Wedding Style at Pelican Hill
Crystal embraced high fashion on her wedding day.
She wore a champagne Galia Lahav couture gown paired with a crystal tiara. The look felt regal yet modern.
Meanwhile, Ross chose a classic black tuxedo with polished Ralph Lauren shoes.
Their beloved Maltese, Matisse, even joined the celebration. As a result, the morning felt joyful and relaxed.
Crystal carried a bouquet of blush and ivory roses. The soft palette complemented the coastal surroundings beautifully.
However, the most memorable detail was Crystal’s confidence. She truly embodied modern bridal elegance.

First Look Overlooking the Pacific
Crystal’s mother helped her into her gown inside the resort suite. Soon after, we walked to the rooftop garden.
Ross waited among the sculpted topiary overlooking the ocean.
Then Crystal tapped his shoulder.
His reaction said everything.
They shared a quiet embrace while the ocean breeze moved through the gardens. Meanwhile, the resort grounds glowed in the early afternoon light.
Next, the bridal party joined us for portraits.
The bridesmaids wore flowing blush dresses. Meanwhile, the groomsmen wore classic black tuxedos.
Together, the group created a sophisticated and timeless aesthetic.

Oceanview Ceremony at Pelican Hill
As the ceremony began, guests gathered overlooking the coastline, where the horizon stretched endlessly into the distance.
With soft coastal light and open air surrounding the space, the environment created a naturally refined backdrop. In addition, the symmetry of the architecture added structure, while the ocean introduced movement and depth.
Because of this balance, the ceremony felt both elevated and grounded.
For couples considering a Newport Beach oceanview wedding, this setting offers a rare combination of scale and intimacy.

Cocktail Hour
Everyone was escorted to the upper balcony which overlooked the sunset for cocktail hour. They were greeted with salmon and caviar-topped blinis, a cheese and fruit bar, and signature cocktails from the bride and groom. During that time, I headed back down to the ceremony site with Crystal and Ross to capture romantic portraits. While we walked the grounds capturing their photos, the pair got to enjoy their first sunset together as husband and wife.

An Editorial Approach to a Coastal Wedding
The overall design reflected a cohesive and elevated vision.
Rather than relying on excess, each detail was selected with intention. For example, the color palette remained soft and neutral, allowing the natural surroundings to remain the focus.
Similarly, wardrobe and styling complemented the setting, creating a visual narrative that felt consistent throughout the day.
This is where a luxury Newport Beach wedding becomes distinct.
Not only in what is included, but also in how everything is refined and restrained.

Why Couples Choose Pelican Hill for Their Newport Beach Wedding
For couples planning a Pelican Hill Resort wedding, the appeal is clear.
First, the property offers sweeping ocean views from nearly every vantage point.
Additionally, the architecture provides a timeless and structured aesthetic.
Finally, the location allows for a destination feel without leaving Southern California.
Because of this combination, Pelican Hill continues to attract couples who value both design and experience.
It’s not just about the view.
Instead, it’s about how the environment shapes the entire day.
Planning a Wedding at Pelican Hill Resort
The most compelling weddings at Pelican Hill are rooted in intention.
From the ceremony layout to the timing of sunset portraits, each decision contributes to the overall experience. As a result, the day feels effortless, even though every detail has been carefully considered.
Whether you’re planning a destination-style wedding in Newport Beach or a local celebration, the goal remains the same:
To create something elevated, cohesive, and deeply personal.
For Couples Drawn to a Refined Coastal Wedding
If you’re looking for a wedding that blends architecture, ocean views, and a polished aesthetic, a Pelican Hill Resort wedding in Newport Beach offers a uniquely elevated experience.
Ultimately, it provides the space to slow down and remain present.
And that is where the most meaningful moments unfold.

Malibu Creek State Park Engagement Session with an Editorial, Fashion-Forward Approach
A Malibu Creek State Park engagement session offers something entirely different from the coastline.
Instead of ocean views, the landscape shifts into texture—rolling hills, dry earth, and light that moves quickly through the canyon. Because of this, the environment naturally lends itself to a more editorial approach.
For couples who care about styling as much as setting, it becomes less about location—and more about how everything comes together visually.

Where Fashion Becomes the Focus
This session was built around wardrobe.
From the beginning, each look was chosen with intention, allowing movement, structure, and silhouette to guide the direction of the shoot. Rather than blending into the environment, the styling created contrast in a way that felt elevated and deliberate.
As a result, the images feel less like traditional engagement photos and more like a series of composed, editorial moments.
That distinction matters.

Light, Texture, and Direction
Topography plays a bigger role here than most people expect.
Because the terrain shifts constantly, the light interacts differently with each frame. At the same time, the neutral tones allow for more flexibility in wardrobe, which is why this location works especially well for fashion-forward sessions.
Instead of relying on dramatic scenery, the focus stays on composition, posture, and subtle movement.

Why Malibu Creek State Park Works for Engagement Photos
For couples considering a Malibu Creek State Park engagement session, the appeal is both practical and aesthetic.
First, the location offers a wide range of textures within a relatively small area.
Additionally, it provides more privacy than many coastal locations.
Finally, the setting feels distinctly Southern California without feeling overused.
Because of this, it’s become a strong option for couples looking to create something that feels intentional rather than expected.

An Editorial Perspective on Engagement Photography
Approaching this as a Los Angeles wedding photographer, the goal is not to over-direct.
Instead, the focus stays on refining small details—how fabric moves, how light falls, and how posture shapes the frame. For example, slight adjustments in positioning can completely shift the tone of an image.
As a result, the final set feels cohesive, elevated, and consistent.
That’s where the difference is.

Looking Ahead to Their Pelican Hill Wedding
Crystal and Ross will marry later this year at the iconic The Resort at Pelican Hill.
The venue is one of California’s most luxurious coastal resorts.
Therefore, their Malibu Creek State Park engagement session perfectly complements the elegance of their upcoming wedding.
I cannot wait to document the next chapter of their story.
For now, enjoy a glimpse into their romantic Malibu engagement session.

Luxury Bridal Inspiration for the Modern Bride
As wedding season came to a close, we decided to create something entirely for inspiration — a styled shoot designed for the modern bride seeking luxury bridal inspiration. We teamed up with a talented group of Los Angeles wedding professionals, and together we traveled to a desert location to capture a bridal editorial featuring gowns by Floravere. While the journey was long, it allowed us to plan carefully, and ultimately, we arrived with the perfect mindset to craft an editorial that feels both bold and timeless.
Elevated Wedding Dress Inspiration
Once we arrived, we immediately scouted the dunes, noticing how the light shifted across the multi-colored mountains. Then, we began styling four fashion-forward wedding dresses, pairing them intentionally with vintage gold accessories to echo the soft, buttery sand. Meanwhile, deep red florals provided striking contrast and reflected the warmth of autumn. As we worked, every choice reinforced the editorial direction we envisioned. Later, the gowns moved effortlessly against the landscape, allowing the modern bride to appear confident, poised, and fashion-forward.
Editorial Bridal Styling with Intentional Details
While we set up hair and makeup, our team coordinated the floral elements and accessory details. Inessa Nichols crafted a whimsical gold lunaria crown, while also designing a bouquet of wild grasses, nigella pods, and ranunculus. Together, these pieces added texture and dimension without overpowering the gowns. As the sun began to dip, we adjusted accessories and poses to maximize natural light. Meanwhile, every element — from flowing fabrics to sculptural florals — contributed to a cohesive story of luxury bridal style.
Minimalist Details, Maximum Impact
As the sky shifted to soft purples and pinks, we transitioned to the tablescape setup. We layered warm candlelight, antique accents, and desert florals, creating a minimalist yet luxurious composition. Later, while photographing the couple, the cotton-candy sky offered the perfect backdrop. Then, we captured portraits that emphasized movement, light, and editorial elegance. Ultimately, this styled shoot demonstrates that luxury bridal inspiration for the modern bride thrives in intentional styling, cohesive design, and a bold, fashion-forward approach.

Destination Lake Wedding in Greece | Ellie + Charles
Destination Wedding in Greece
This lakeside wedding is particularly special because I personally know the bride and it was my first destination wedding in Greece. Needless to say, there was a lot of preparation that had to be done for a trip of this magnitude. Luckily I have an incredible girlfriend who helped throughout the process and even accompanied me to Greece. We flew into the Athens airport a few days prior to the wedding. This gave us ample time to adjust to the time difference and scout the area for the wedding day.
The days leading up to the wedding were quite nerve-racking. Every day we experienced scattered showers, strong wind, and even severe nighttime thunderstorms. Needless to say, this was not the weather we were expecting. Thankfully, once the wedding day arrived the clouds rained themselves out and we had nothing but sunny skies. This was a huge relief considering the entire day was to take place outdoors.

Bridal Details
I met with Ellie on the morning of in her suite. Her hair was styled to absolute perfection without a single strand out of place. The jewelry was simple and elegant, much like her custom-made dress. Ellie’s friend and Swedish-based designer Lina Nordin, worked with Ellie to create her dream gown.

Ceremony & Reception
The wedding went off without a hitch. The couple kept things very traditional and saved their first look until the bride walked down the aisle. In Swedish tradition, Ellie and Charles were adorned with crowns during the ceremony. Following the ceremony, we hopped in a van with the bridal party and headed to the coast for portraits. We returned to the lakeside reception after bridal party photos and sunset portraits for family photos and the evening’s festivities. Heartfelt speeches were given throughout the night and a flash mob surprised Ellie on the dance floor. Everyone danced the night away with drinks, enjoyed homemade Greek ice cream, and a cigar bar.
